HIT OR MISS

One of the things about doing something for the first time is that you’re constantly unsure of yourself. And in my case, it’s the coming together of many firsts. Not thinking about ad briefs (and with all the awards buzz that’s possibly doing the round in agencies right now, I can only imagine how much I’m ‘not’ thinking), trying to re-do a home and trying out newer things within that. Many, right?

A couple weeks back, I was looking at some print-on-print and came up with an idea. How about painting on printed paper. I went along with that thought and tore up some pages from a magazine, and painted on them. A first for me that. Painting. Well not a first, but I’ve always been terrible at it.

I hope you didn’t follow that up with ‘still are’.

Anyway, so a few brush strokes, and an afternoon later, this is what I came up with...

After framing them and putting them up, this is what they look like now.

I’m sorry for the terrible photographs. I dream that my blog will one day, grow up to be one of those blogs with stunning pictures, but for now, I’m just going to seek solace in the hope that you will look towards my ugly pictures with some kindness. And let me know, thumbs up or thumbs down for my ‘mixed media’ art.

If you don’t like it, I have bad news... This effort has inspired me so much, I’m thinking of painting some more. So there’s going to be many more of these. And you can’t say I didn’t warn you.
